The third Summer Youth Olympic Games was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina from October 6 to 18. South American animal Pandi was the mascot of the event. The Summer Youth Olympics is an international multi-sport event for athletes between the ages of 15 and 18.  The first edition of Summer Youth Olympics was held in Singapore in 2010 and second edition was held in China in 2014. About 4000 young athletes from 206 countries took part in 32 sports of the mega sport event.

Russia topped the medal tally of the third Summer Youth Olympic Games by winning 29 gold (59 medals overall). China came a distant second by securing 18 gold (36 medals overall). India with 3 gold and 13 medals overall in the event came 17th.
